City Utilities of Springfield is continuing work to replace the water main that runs along Holland Avenue. The new water main is in place and City Utilities crews will be making cross connections to other water mains in the area. They plan to perform the following work during the week of November 6-10:
Monday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 7
- Crews will begin working on the afternoon of Monday, November 6 and will work into the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 7 at the intersection of Holland Avenue and Bear Boulevard. This work will require a full closure of the intersection of Holland Avenue and Bear Boulevard while this work takes place. Sidewalks will likely be impacted by this work. This work will also require a water outage that will affect Hammons Student Center and JQH Arena. The water outage will begin at 9:00 p.m. Work is expected to be complete and water service restored prior to sunrise on Tuesday, November 7.
Wednesday, November 8 and Thursday, November 9
- Crews will begin working on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 8 and will work into the early morning hours of Thursday, November 9 at the intersection of Holland Avenue and Harrison Street. This work will require a full closure of Harrison Street on both sides of the intersection of Holland Avenue and Harrison Street while this work takes place. Bear Boulevard should remain open, however traffic flow may be restricted. Sidewalks in the area of the work will likely be impacted by the work. Work is expected to be complete prior to sunrise on Thursday, November 9.
Note that the above schedule is approximate. Weather or unforeseen conditions may require the work schedule to revised.
Updated information regarding the Holland Avenue water main renewal project will be posted as the project progresses.
Additional information will be posted separately with regard to any impacts on Bear Line shuttle service.
