The weather is warming, the birds are chirping, and spring classes are winding down. Yes, sunny days are here at last and summer is right around the corner! This means summer classes will begin in a little over a month and there’s still time to register!
And you know what? If you were eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant during the fall or spring 2017-2018 semesters you may be eligible for additional Pell Grant funds to help pay for summer classes. This is because the U.S. Department of Education has reinstated a program known as “Year-Round Pell” or YRP. Under YRP, students who may have used their full Pell Grant eligibility for the fall and spring semesters could be eligible for additional funds to help pay for summer.
To qualify for YRP you have to be Pell Grant eligible for the 2017-2018 aid year and be enrolled at least half-time for the summer semester (for summer, that’s 3 credit hours). The Office of Student Financial Aid will handle the rest.
