The Office of Student Financial Aid is pleased to offer two graduate assistantships beginning August 13th. Each G.A. will contribute directly to the success of MSU’s students by reviewing FAFSAs, communicating with families to resolve conflicts, and thinking critically. Selected candidates must be able to commit to no less than 4 semesters as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Financial Aid.
Primary Duties
- Review confidential tax forms and student financial aid applications
- Evaluate documentation regarding student eligibility
- Communicate with students and parents regarding discrepant or incomplete data
- Award aid according to University’s awarding standards
- Maintain fleet of departmental publications (forms, email templates, etc.)
Qualifications
- Student-success driven
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher)
- Attention to critical detail
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax code and common tax documents is preferred
