Yes, it rained all weekend! This has tested the mettle of our rain gardens as we complete them this year. The rains last year and this spring have shown us where adjustments need to be made. We built a small rain garden around the drain of the large rain garden. We are getting some seepage of water under an area of the berm where we put rocks to stabilize the bank. Need to rethink this.
Adam Coulter from the NRCS came by last Tuesday and we decided to plant a shrub crescent to intercept the water that was seeping out. He dropped off some buttonbush to use in this area yesterday on his way to Van Buren.
The garden is functioning well to intercept the rain water, and I think will work very well once the plants and shrubs reach maturity.
