The field crew is putting nets on the Vignoles grapes to keep the birds away from the fruit. The winged nemeses have been flying around, looking at the grapes, and licking their beaks. Birds tend to like smaller berries, like Vignoles, as well as purple or red berries. Birds are generally not as much of a problem in a wet year as they are in a dry year.
