Ok, I was looking at the blackberry flowers on Thursday, wearing shorts and enjoying warm weather. It dawned on me that the blackberries were blooming without a blackberry winter! To date, last week we have shoot thinned the West Catawba vineyard and removed fruit from low pruning weight or small vines. This week we have shoot and cluster thinned the MVEC Chambourcin rows and have shoot thinned the Seyval blanc. We will wait until fruit set to cluster thin the Seyval.
