What's happening in the field?

At the Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station

Faculty and Students from UniCesumar University, Maringá Brazil Visit Fruit Station

May 8, 2019 by Jennifer Morganthaler

Faculty and students from UniCesumar, a private university in Maringá, Brazil visited the Fruit Station today.  The students and faculty come to Missouri State for a short study away program in which they have classes and tour companies and operations across the entire state.  Missouri State students and faculty will travel to Brazil later this month for a similar experience.  This is a great learning opportunity for all involved.

Dr. Chin-Feng Hwang, Department Head of Environmental Plant Science and Natural Resources welcomed the students. After introductions and an overview of the Fruit Station, the group tasted wines and other products produced at the station.  We then toured the winery, distillery and research field. A few of the students got some hands on experience bottling. Some of the group purchased wine and products to enjoy and some to take back home.
