Graduation Deadlines

  • DUE NOW – – applications for FALL 13 graduation.
  • December 5, 2012 – – Deadline for submission of Comprehensive Exam Result Form to the Graduate College.
  • December 13, 2013 – – Commencement (12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.).

SU14 Summer Faculty Fellowship Awards.  10 faculty were awarded Summer Faculty Fellowships for the 2014 Summer semester.  The departmental breakdown is as follows: ART – 2; BIO – 2; CSC – 1; GGP – 1; HST – 1; MTH – 1; MUS – 2.

Important Faculty related funding deadlines.  Guidelines and applications can be found at http://graduate.missouristate.edu/facultystaff/ResearchSupport.htm.

  • Faculty Research Grants:  The deadline for Spring proposals is Friday, January 31, 2014.

 

Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum

The date for the 2014 will Saturday, May 3, 2014.  Abstracts are due April 7.  For pictures and information from the 2013 Forum, please see http://graduate.missouristate.edu/currentstudents/IDF.htm.  

 

Graduate Student Workshops 

Thesis Writing 101.  3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 (tentative date).  PSU 308 A (tentative location).  Speaker: Dr. Tom Tomasi, Associate Dean of the Graduate College and Biology Professor.  This session will focus on the research requirements of the Graduate College, specificaly dealing with formatting requirements of a thesis. The session will include hints on how to avoid some of the common pitfalls in writing a thesis.

How to Get Into Grad School.  3:30-5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014.  PSU 315 A.  More information about this event to come.

Writing an Abstract.  3:30-5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014.  PSU 308 A.  Speaker: Dr. Tom Tomasi, Associate Dean of the Graduate College and Biology Professor.  This session will include suggestions on how to write an abstract. The session is intended to assist students as they prepare abstracts for their theses and for the Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum, which will be held May 3, 2014, but this session is also open to any graduate student.

Giving a Presentation.  3:30-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014.  PSU 308 A.  Speaker: Dr. Tom Tomsi, Associate Dean of the Graduate College and Biology Professor.  This session will include suggestions and examples of successful presentation techniques for both oral and poster presentations. This session is intended to assist students as they prepare for the Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum, which will be held on May 3, 2014, but this session is also open to any graduate student.
