The Graduate College at Missouri State University has a new associate dean.
Dr. Carrisa Hoelscher, associate professor of communication, began the position July 1, after serving as interim associate dean during the past year.
Hoelscher said she looks forward to this new adventure as a permanent member of the Graduate College team, whose culture of excellence and innovation is energizing.
“Most importantly, I’m thrilled to support all the amazing Grad Bears we have at Missouri State!” she added.

As an organizational communication scholar, Hoelscher researches communicative tensions in the context of groups, organizations and interorganizational collaborations. Most recently, her focus has been on the tensions between organizational/employee consent and embodied, culture-driven work ethic.
Outside of her academic roles, she enjoys consulting and training in the areas of communication competence, business and professional communication, teamwork and leadership communication.
Hoelscher has a PhD in organizational communication from the University of Oklahoma.
