The Department of History would like to congratulate the department’s Best Essay Prize winners for the academic year 2022-2023. Each year, faculty nominate students for the award with one undergraduate and one graduate paper receiving the “Best Essay” accolade in this departmental competition. The authors of the winning papers receive $250 and have their names engraved on a plaque in the department office.
For the academic year 2022-2023, the best undergraduate essay prize was awarded to Carson Lolley for her paper “Fighting Uphill: SCCAHW Involvement in the Remediation of Weldon Spring” (nominated by Steve McIntyre). The best graduate paper prize was awarded to Anna Guenter for her paper “Critical Theory in Postcolonial Studies” (nominated by Sarah Panzer).
