National Sleep Awareness Week March 14th-20th
It may seem obvious that sleep is beneficial. We know that going without sleep makes us feel terrible, but lack of sleep can mess up more than just your morning mood. Getting quality sleep on a regular basis can help improve all sorts of issues, including boosting mood, sharping your brain’s activity, helping your heart, lowering blood pressure, steadying blood sugar, boosting your immune system, and controlling hunger.
Lack of sleep can be a sign of a significant health problem. If you experience any two (2) of the following symptoms: excessive daytime sleepiness, snoring, gasping/choking during sleep, morning headaches, high blood pressure, depression; you may need to schedule a visit with your primary care physician to discuss if you should be tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
Mercy Clinic Sleep Medicine- Springfield is available to perform sleep studies that are interpreted by board certified sleep medicine. Medically necessary sleep studies are a covered procedure under the base and buy-up health plans (subject to appropriate deductible/co-insurance).
Need a primary care physician to get your treatment started? Magers Health and Wellness, your on campus health center, has qualified staff ready to assist you with your healthcare needs.
Medical related expenses including deductible and co-insurance amounts are eligible expenses under the Cafeteria/flex spending plan. Employees currently enrolled in the plan can submit eligible expenses to Asiflex.
Enrollment/Changes can be made to the Medical and Cafeteria/flexible spending plans yearly during open enrollment (November 1st- November 30th), or within 30 days of a qualifying event.
