A chronicle of Missouri State immersion service trips

Missouri State Spring Breakers Working with Kids in Dallas

March 6, 2015 by Alex Johnson

This will be the third year for the Dallas Immersion Trip; each year expanding a little more on the social issue of Families and Poverty. This year the participants will be volunteering in West Dallas at the Wesley Rankin Community Center encouraging education to the local children through fun camp activities. 67% of the population 25 years old and above in West Dallas don’t finish high school or receive a GED. There are many circumstances for that statistic, but the participants want to show the importance of education and that it can be fun! They will also be serving at Jonathan’s Place (http://jpkids.org/); their mission is to “provide a safe, loving home and specialized services to children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected.” The participants will get to hang out and play games with a group of girls that are utilizing Jonathan’s Place facilities.Dallas
