A chronicle of Missouri State immersion service trips

A Fulfilling Day in Texas

March 10, 2015 by Ryan Justice

Today was day two of my service learning at the Wesley Rankin community center here in Dallas, Texas. As expected from the first day, it was an exhausting and yet extremely rewarding and fulfilling day. I got to see all the kids that I met on the first day at the community center and amazingly they greeted me like I was an old friend of theirs. They were excited to be back with use and having fun, but most importantly they were excited to learn.

I led the craft activity and we had the kids making their own batches of play-doh using a homemade recipe. Although it didn’t always go exactly as we expected, the kids loved it none the less. They also worked together to create a rainbow using cut outs of their hands with things that they are thankful for written on them. Altogether, running the crafts activity was a learning experience and never had a dull moment. I hope the rest of my time here can compare to the fun that I had today.
