Ever since I received my acceptance letter in December, I was immensely excited for spring break to come to go to on this service trip. It is only day two of serving and this trip has exceeded my expectations! The immense amount of special moments on this trip have been so endearing, so much my chest is just bursting with joy constantly. The people on this trip serving with me are some of the cutest, most passionate and loving people. I am constantly getting hugged, encouraged, receiving smiles, hearing about passions, beliefs, pasts and all kinds of other meaningful conversation. It is these special moments I have shared with these people who are from around the world and U.S. and have great hearts where I have learned so much and have felt immensely loved. The first day of serving included one of my most favorite special moments. We served at a food pantry and I was able to serve the homeless which was such a cool experience. Then I went to talk to the leader of the pantry, Cathy, and she started telling me her testimony. Cathy was formerly homeless and now leads the pantry so to love others with God’s love, the same love she said that brought her out of her broken life. Cathy encouraged me to follow my passions and gave me ideas of how to help the homeless in my community, among many other things as well. Cathy’s testimony and words of wisdom moved me to the point of tears. As a freshman, I am not sure what I want to do with my future but it is cool to know that that special moment with Cathy put me one step closer to finding out what I am meant to do. I love special moments like these and I love this service trip!
