Today we worked with Habitat…

Building and serving

For a community in need.

Seeing the damage from years ago

Still strongly apparent, unfortunately.

A disaster most forgot.

Now, Bear Breaks is here, a third year in a row.

Today we worked with Habitat…

Physical labor that will last for years,

And memories made forever.

We have developed new skills

And bonded over the hiccups.

Today, the best part was…

All the fun we had along the way.

Our journey together to build this house will make an impact on the community, but it has also made an impact on me. Sharing this experience with people who know that there is good to be done in the world is inspiring. It has opened my eyes to what I can do as an individual after this trip. Missouri State has given me a great opportunity to come to New Orleans and seeing exactly how my service effects the community around me is awesome. I can’t wait to share with my friends all that I have learned from the trip and the experiences I have had. I hope to leave NOLA and inspire others to take a look at their community and see what they can do to serve it!
