Week four of Bear Breaks Trip Leader Training is coming to an end! The year is in full swing for our trip leaders with them working on wrapping up exciting trip titles and descriptions. Those Spring Break applications will be out soon!
As Executive Board Members we are hard at work preparing our Trip Leaders for their Spring Break Trips. The curriculum this past week was aimed to develop strong service through working with our community partners. We are also working on augmenting the advising process. This process is designed to strengthen the relationship between the executive board member and the trip leaders, as well as assist in anything the Trip Leader is struggling with or if they need advice.
Here’s an update from Sarah, Director of Membership & Education:
We are excited to see how this year turns out and the growth of our trips and program! We have been working on developing an Education, Orientation and Training (EOT) plan for trip leaders, which we will talk about at meeting in a couple of weeks. There are so many leadership opportunities this year and it’s exciting to see this program grow stronger. I also can’t wait to go on another Spring Break trip and watching the process develop is exciting! I have also been working on a trip leader manual for one of my classes. This has been exciting to learn about different design elements and researching the Bear Breaks population.
Here’s an update from Liz, Director of Community Outreach:
We are a ways into the semester and things are looking good. Fall Break Trips are filled and they are gearing up this week to begin talking about their trips and social issues, both are focusing on sustainability. We are also looking to plan a weekend immersion trip in November and a couple more next semester. We are also scheduled for Trip Leader service days in October and November! I’m looking forward to the team building at these events.
Here’s an update from Aidan, Director of Retreat, Reflection & Reorientation:
I don’t feel quite in the swing of things since I missed our first Trip Leader meeting, but retreat went well. I have been working on a social media plan to better utilize our platforms outside of the week of spring break. We have a big presence on social media during that one week, but it is important to keep updating on things happening throughout the year. I am also super excited for Fall Break since I get to go to Milwaukee!
As we look ahead to this next week, Trip Leaders will be introduced to budgeting and planning for activities on their free day! Stay tuned for updates from our Trip Leaders!
