For our February 26th meeting of Bear Breaks Spring Leaders, Heather Blades of the Center for Dispute Resolution came by to speak to us on the best way to talk through conflicts. While we hope there won’t be any fighting or too large of conflicts on our trips, sometimes people will disagree due to our discussion of different topics that come from our experiences. We also spoke of the many issues that have come up in past trips and what our different policies are.
Over the past two semesters, we have covered and accomplished several aspects of our trips. While I know I’m not alone among our leaders, it has been scary to talk about how close Spring Break is. While we have covered everything including finding a place to stay, finding community partners to serve, making a budget, creating reflection plans, and several other requirements to succeed with the missions of our trips, it still seems like there’s more to do. I don’t know if it is because of how helpful our advisors and executive board have been, but I can’t stand people telling me I am leaving next week.
Luckily, I met with my group this week to do some final preparation and have spoken more with my advisor to ensure the final details. Since I’ve received more information about what we will be required to bring, I updated their packing lists and we settled on both arrival and departure times. I have also found some great places to visit including the Hall of Champions and the Indianapolis Zoo along with several places to eat. We are planning on doing a group grocery store run along with group efforts in deciding what we do on our free day. I’m looking forward to growing more with my group throughout the week and know everyone is excited!
