Last Day in Chicago!

Hi, everyone. My name is Meng Wang. I am from China. My major at MSU is Public Administration. And I am a graduate student. I feel very grateful to have this service trip.

Service in Saint James Food Pantry

Today we went to Saint James Food Pantry. It is a place to offer healthy food for poor families and homeless people.

When we arrived there, we were divided into three groups to help to distribute kinds of food to poor families. Some people organized food. Some people put food on the shelf. Some people greeted clients. I was one of the person to greet. I can feel the difference between people going inside and outside. When they enter into the door, I can feel they are tired and stressful. However, when they leave, I can see smile on their faces. And they also greeted me and said to me “Have a good day”.

Mini PSU Bear helped us today.

Reflection

In the end of our service, a person working in Saint James  asked us “when you do this service, what do you give to people?” our answers are hope, respect, love, compassion, dignity and so on. She also asked “when you do this service, what can you get?” Our answers are greeting, smile, new thought about life etc.. During the service trip in Chicago, I learn a lot from my team and also broaden my thought about service. Although our Chicago service trip comes to an end, I believe our new service trip is beginning!!
