Chicago Food Depository
We went to Chicago food pantry. Bear Break Trip members are excited to welcome all kinds of coming mission. The passion for getting involved in the service activity touched me a lot. We enjoyed the wonderful songs and sang along with on the whole way to the destination. This group is diverse and inclusive, full of fun and joy.
Our mission today was to help Chicago Food Pantry to package the oranges and onions. The most impressive part is that this food depository was well organized. They are professional to handle the materials like all kinds of foods and fruits for people who need. We saw the neat room and tables for packaging onions and oranges. There were many volunteers registered for this activity. I really enjoyed doing service things with different people. One of the members of our table said he has been getting involved in these kinds of activity each Tuesday. I was moved by his motivation. As a result, we finished packaging 1,699 lbs of oranges and 9,283 lbs of onions. For a total of 10,982 lbs of food and 9,152 meals for those in need throughout Food Pantry.
Coming Home
I hope when I come back to MSU, we still can help the local Food Pantry do the service things regular. And advocate for more funds and donates are also very important. We can ask for more and more volunteers to come and join us.
