My name is Sophia Zhao and I am from China. I am studying towards my master degree in MSU for one year. I have to say joining 2019 Spring Immersion Trip is the most meaningful thing I have done since I came here so far. I meet so many amazing people in New Orleans, they are trying to protect and improve their homeland in many ways. Ms. Jeanette is trying to educate neighbors to grow their own fresh vegetables. I was impressed by what she said, “how can the society healthy that people can’t eat fresh food.” Yes that’s sure. we need to make sure our bodies are healthy first. Mr. Burnell built the only grocery store in the lower ninth ward. They all great and powerful people. I have learned more about New Orleans than I can imagine, about its history and people here are hard working and never give up. I feel I can do more to help people who need help, No matter where I am, no matter who I am.
Also, I had a great time in our team, everyone is so sweet and nice. I am the only international student in our team, To be honest, I was nervous before I left for New Orleans and I was afraid I wouldn’t into the group very well. But as time goes by, I feel I am so happy to meet them and I appreciate the helps they gave to me. I believe we are getting better and better. New Orleans will be more strong than now.
