A chronicle of Missouri State immersion service trips

Chicago: Food Depository

March 20, 2019 by emy1998

Greater Chicago Food Depository

My favorite part of the trip was volunteering at Greater Chicago Food Depository. I was surprised to see a lot of volunteers, especially those that are coming there every week at least once and they keep doing it for several years. It was a great experience working with music and see happy people bagging onions or oranges while dancing and smiling. The whole environment was so happy, which made my day. We have been there for 4-5 hours and time passed like a few minutes. I also liked that at the end of our work the organizers told us what the amount of packing we have done was and how many people will get it. The statistics gave us a clear picture of what we have done. I am so happy that I was a part of this trip and I am excited to do it again.
