Follow the Chorale to the 58th presidential inauguration

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies selected the Chorale to perform at the 58th Presidential Inauguration. Celebrate this moment for the Chorale and Missouri State at a send-off concert at 6 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Davis-Harrington Welcome Center.
This concert will include United States-inspired songs such as folk songs, spirituals and pieces written for the inauguration. A reception will follow the performance.
Missouri State invites alumni and friends to a Chorale concert and reception at the National Presbyterian Church, where you can enjoy musical selections by the select 50-voice choir under the direction of Dr. Cameron LaBarr. This public appearance follows the Chorale’s performance at the 58th Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20.The event is free, but registration is requested.
When the 45th president of the United States is sworn in on Jan. 20, 2017, the Missouri State University Chorale will be front and center. The Chorale, directed by Dr. Cameron LaBarr, will perform during the nationally televised inaugural ceremony.
Senator Roy Blunt, chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), made the announcement Oct. 7 at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.
“I’m very proud to announce that MSU’s Chorale will represent the university and the state of Missouri on the national stage at the 58th Presidential Inauguration,” said Blunt. “I have no doubt that the millions of Americans watching the ceremony will be as impressed with these incredibly talented students as all of us who have had the opportunity to hear them perform.”
This select choir of 50 voices has toured throughout the United States, Europe and South Africa and performs regularly at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Music Educators Association and the National Association for Music Education.
“We are honored that the Missouri State University Chorale has been selected to perform at the inauguration,” said Missouri State President Clifton M. Smart III. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for Chorale students to take part in an important and historic event.”

The Chorale will perform at an MSU Alumni/Friends reception at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Ave. NW, Washington D.C.

The Chorale has set up a crowdfunding opportunity for friends of Missouri State who want to help the group. While they surpassed their $13,500 goal weeks ago, they are now working on a new target: $43,500 to fund future opportunities like this that will help elevate the Chorale and Missouri State to the national and international levels of attention.
