Nominations are being accepted now through 4 p.m. March 1 for the STAR Awards. The STAR—Student Talent and Recognition—Awards is an award ceremony that honors outstanding students and student organizations. The 2012 ceremony will occur at 5:30 p.m. April 23 in the PSU Ballroom.
About the awards
The STAR Awards honors about 25 outstanding student leaders and student organizations which have been nominated by various organizations, students, faculty and staff. Since its beginning in 1996, the STAR Awards has recognized roughly 300 students, organizations and advisers at Missouri State.
Nominations
Nominations for the STAR Awards are accepted from faculty, staff and students. Browse the awards packet to learn about each award, and, then, nominate groups, advisers and individuals whom you feel worthy of such honors to the office of student engagement by March 1.
Everyone must submit one complete stapled copy of each award nomination along with one cover sheet. No applications will be accepted via email, and all applications must be typed. Please limit your nomination letters for each award to a maximum of three typed pages. Also, photos may be needed with your nomination; check the awards packet for more information about what should be included with your nomination letter.
When filling out the award, make sure that the name of the nominated individual or organization only appears on the cover page. The nominated organization or individual’s name cannot be included anywhere else in the award application (evaluation sheet, essay, letters of recommendation, etc) for judging purposes. If the name is anywhere else besides this cover page, the award could be disqualified.
