Missouri Department of Revenue has released the 2019 withholding tables and Form MO W-4 (Revised 12-2018). The new withholding tables no longer allow employees to increase or decrease the amount withheld from their paychecks by claiming allowances that are inconsistent with their specific filing situation. Employees previously electing allowances will automatically see their 2019 withholding based solely on their filing status beginning with the January paycheck.
The new Form MO W-4 allows an employee to request an additional amount to be withheld on line 2, or they can elect to have a flat dollar amount be withheld per paycheck instead of the standard calculation by entering the dollar amount on line 3.
The Missouri Department of Revenue encourages all employees to review their current withholdings and complete a 2019 Form MO W-4 to make corresponding changes based on your filing status.
To view your current Missouri withholdings, access your latest pay stub by logging in to My Missouri State and selecting Profile. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see the Pay Stub option. Once you open your latest pay stub, go to the taxes section and you’ll see Missouri Withholding Tax.
Then visit the Missouri Department of Revenue calculator to assist in your planning. Under Wages and Allowances in the calculator, you will need to enter the Applicable Gross that is listed on your pay stub for Missouri Withholding Tax. Gross taxable wages are your regular wages less pretax deductions such as 403B, 457B, cafeteria plan contributions and similar items.
If you wish to make changes to your Missouri withholdings, please complete a new Form MO W-4, available on the payroll webpage, and send to payroll, Carrington 119.
