Missouri State University recently earned 2020 Tree Campus Higher Education program recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.
The award honors colleges and universities that maintain healthy trees and engage students and staff in the spirit of conservation.
Reaching recognition
Campuses must meet five core standards for sustainable campus forestry to qualify for recognition.
These include:
- Establishment of a tree advisory committee.
- Evidence of a campus tree care plan.
- Annual expenditures dedicated to a campus tree program.
- Observance of Arbor Day.
- Sponsorship of student service learning projects.
