The office of study away programs will officially change its name to the office of education abroad in May 2021.
While the office will continue to support traditional international and domestic study away experiences, the new name better reflects its offerings where students are no longer limited to classroom study while abroad.
MSU students are increasingly seeking internships, service-learning options, and practicum experiences during their time away from Missouri State.
The study away/education abroad team is already supporting students in these endeavors. The new name reflects the scope of their work.
Additionally, the field has grown to embrace education abroad over study abroad. Indeed, the professional organization which guides study away/education abroad work is The Forum on Education Abroad.
This spring’s soft launch is in preparation for SOAR, with a more public release to coincide with the September 2021 Education Abroad Fair.
