Study Away Programs staff, including Director Elizabeth Strong and Advisor Ashley Neyer, recently visited Mexico to nurture relationships with our valued partners. Missouri State has established partners in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Merida. The delegation also included the Director of International Services, Patrick Parnell, Department Head of Modern and Classical Languages, Dr. Jason Jolley, Honors College Director, Dr. John Chuchiak, Program Director of Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs, Dr. Jerry Masterson, and Department Head of Nursing, Dr. Kathryn Hope. The delegation had successful meetings at each institution and is looking forward to facilitating study away opportunities in the coming semesters. Study Away anticipates offering programs focused on language intensive studies, major-specific courses, and hands-on nursing opportunities. The delegation also confirmed opportunities for incoming Mexican students to Missouri State, especially at the post-graduate degree and certificate level, in addition to joint research and faculty exchange opportunities. The delegation was provided the opportunity to engage with Springfield’s Sister City, Tlaquepaque, located in Guadalajara, state of Jalisco. Please contact Study Away Programs (studyaway@missouristate.edu) for any questions regarding these international experiences or to explore specific programming opportunities for your department.
