On November 30, 10 Chinese Student Leadership Program (CSLP) student leaders received their program completion certificate from Vice President for Research and Economic Development and International Programs, Dr. James Baker.
Personal Development
CSLP members completed three months of personal and professional development training during the summer. Workshops on leadership, communication, and mentoring, along with campus and community organization tours and lectures, helped them become great role models for new Chinese students.
Training into Action
The student leaders have been highly engaged in on-campus activities and community service. One of the highlights is no doubt welcoming new Chinese students at the beginning of the fall semester. “From airport pickup to transition programs, from the first group meeting to encourage new students to get involved on campus and in the community, you guys served so much, worked so hard, and had so much positive impact,” staff advisor Winnie said.
CSLP Family
“First we are a team, now we are a family,” peer advisor Junyu (Allen) Sun said. “The time we spent at the airport was so precious to me. No matter how late the time was, I never got tired when I worked with you guys.”
The CSLP planning committee gave their best wishes to all the members.
“This is the best cohort ever,” advisor Dandan Liu said.
“Hope you all will continue thinking globally, acting locally,” advisor Peng Zheng said.
“This is just the beginning of your next life chapter. Keep it up! You will all become great leaders.” advisor Sean said.
I never thought I would grow this much in this family. The best part is that I made so many friends. We help each other, support each other, we love each other just like a family,” member Jinya said, “They helped me find so many possibilities of my life.”
University Recognition
Dr. Baker also congratulated CSLP members, “We highly appreciate what you have done for our students and our university. I hope you will apply what you have learned in the future and continue influencing others,” Dr. Baker also said, “This is a really unique opportunity for you. You are surrounded by great role models. They influence you in many positive ways. I am so glad you got this opportunity to learn from the best.”
Congratulations to all the CSLP members! We believe you all have a bright future ahead of you.
