International Leadership and Training Center (ILTC) welcomed 36 participants to two different programs, and organized three program completion events to celebrate the achievements of 56 students, professors, and university administrators within one week.
2018 Global Agriculture Initiative
In a coordinated effort between the ILTC and the College of Agriculture, 16 students and 2 professors from Unicesumar in Brazil arrived on May 5. This is the fifth cohort from Unicesumar the ILTC has hosted since 2014. Participants spent a fantastic week learning about agronomy and veterinary science in Missouri and touring topic-related facilities such as Monsanto and Purina Farms in St. Louis.
MSU Entrepreneurship and Innovation Training Program
On May 6, ILTC welcomed the first ever multidisciplinary delegation from Peru. The delegation included 20 professors, executives, and alumni from the Universidad César Vallejo (UCV) and represented 12 subsidiaries of this great university in Peru.
Missouri State University Small Business & Technology Development Center (MSU SBTDC) partnered with MSU International Programs to offer two small business seminars. As guests of Missouri State University, this delegation joined activities from May 6 – 14 focused on business planning utilizing the business model canvas and the development of a marketing plan/strategy as well as cultural and practical experiences. Special thanks to International Enrollment Coordinator, Jorge Reyes Sam, and Graduate Assistant, Rafael Vite Fuentes for their help with this program.
Ningxia University Education Program
On May 9, ILTC held a program completion ceremony for 9 undergraduate students and 11 graduate students representing the Ningxia University College of Education.
The 3-month customized program on Principles of Education featured a combination of content-based English-language training, instruction in the principles of education, and practical experience such as classroom observation.
“Thanks for ILTC members taking us to different places so that we could have a great experience. We made a lot of friends and we developed friendship during the 3 months”, student representative Xinbin Wang said. ”We will really miss MSU and everybody here.”
One of the students said learning about different cultures really helped him understand why other culture are different from his.
“I am extremely proud of you because you have done a really good job”, assistant program specialist May said. “You make people around you realize how good the young generation is in China.”
“You all helped opened my eyes, you helped motivated me to be the best I can and to represent American culture to the best of my ability”, Graduate Assistant Daezia Smith said. “You really make me love my job. “
All the students departed for China on May 11. They will finish their study in Ningxia University.
