Zhenzhen Zheng graduated from one of Missouri State’s partner universities, Qingdao University with a master’s degree in Interpretation and Translation. She came to Missouri State in 2015 for an exchange program. During the six months, she fell in love with Missouri State so she decided to pursue a further degree at Missouri State after finishing her college.
Her experience really amazed us. She studied the Master of Applied Second Language Acquisition with TESOL track, received a Graduate Assistant position in Research and Economic Development & China Programs, served in the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) as the vice president, and led the Traditional Chinese Dance Club.
Passion towards dancing
Zhenzhen always believes getting out of her comfort zone is the key to achieving more on-campus engagement. Uncertainty was filled in her mind when she considered creating a dance club. However she followed her passion and accepted the challenge. She makes every effort to reach a higher level.
“This dance team provides an opportunity to welcome students, faculty and staff to learn Chinese culture through dance. It helps them to expand their knowledge and perception of China.” Zhenzhen said.
We see it possible, and we make it happen
The Office of China Programs speaks highly of her because she has also done a fantastic job on helping with providing translations to marketing materials, assisting programs with logistics and maintaining great customer service to students.
“We see it possible, and we make it happen. This statement always drive me to strive for what I love and try to make it happen.” Zhenzhen said. She will work in the Office of China Programs during her optional practical training. There will surely be more challenges but she is all excited about making her new Missouri Statement with a growth mindset.
