On June 6th, the English Language Institution (ELI) welcomed 19 new students to the ELI-EAP program for the summer session.
Students are from China, Colombia, Iraq, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.
During the three-day orientation, students were introduced to the ELI program, MSU campus, and English Opportunities on campus and in the community. The ELI office helped students get Bear Pass, TB test, and bank account. Students were placed in different levels of English classes based on their performance of the placement test.
Two first-ever second generation ELI students from Yemen arrived and joined the ELI family. Michelle Rose from Missouri State University Publications conducted an interview with them and their uncle, ELI Alumni Mohammed Al-Hadhrami, who is the Deputy Chief of Mission. He works currently in the Yemen Embassy in Washington, D. C.
Their story will be featured on the Alumni magazine in September.
