Ebraheem Bouq is in his first year of Missouri State’s accelerated master’s program. The graduate student from Medina, Saudi Arabia is studying for a degree in Project Management and an MBA. He can’t recommend the accelerated program enough. “It’s an amazing resource. It’s faster, it’s less expensive, and you’re getting a great education from a prestigious program,” says Bouq.
From London to Toledo
Ebra started his higher education journey at 17 in London. He studied at an intensive English program affiliated with Cambridge University, where he learned real English.
He laughs as he remembers his transition from English language training in the UK to the US. “I arrived in Toledo, Ohio. Just going to McDonald’s, and asking for chips… the cashier didn’t know what I was talking about until I told him I wanted potatoes, fried.”
Ebra studied English for two months in Toledo. He loved the beautiful city despite the cold and enjoyed his time in the north. At the end of his English studies, his brother convinced him to move further south.
Arriving at Missouri State
“Everyone has their own story about how they came to Missouri State. For me, I blame my brother – he came first and talked me into it,” explained Ebra, “Now he takes credit for it, because I love it here.” Ebra quickly met new people and got involved in campus activities. He credits that decision for helping him make lifelong connections with other students.

Ebra’s involvement in the Association of International Students (AIS) found him in leadership positions. He worked through the executive board up and held the presidential role in 2018. He’s proud of the group for having over 120 general members and welcoming students from many different countries.
Graduate opportunities
International Programs staff first met Ebra through his involvement with AIS. Those connections led first to student employment in the Office of International Services. This summer, Ebra started as a graduate assistant in the Office of International Programs. He’ll take the lead on special events and activities to help other international students get involved on campus, like First Friday Art Walk and international tailgate tents.
Passion for finance
Ebra has always enjoyed working with numbers and budgeting. He appreciates the flexibility of his undergraduate degree in Finance. “I could find work in many different industries, from government to the private sector, healthcare, or education.”
He hopes to work in finance-related business or financial markets using his Project Management expertise following graduation.
