A growing number of International Education Week events marked the celebration of international education and exchange at Missouri State. These events built on the efforts already in place to make Missouri State a global campus. Two new events in 2019 captured the diversity of cultures represented at Missouri State as well as international education as a tool to enhance the academic experience.
International Education Week Celebration
The event was filled with internationally-themed hors d’oeuvres, networking time with friends and colleagues, and performances by talented international students at Missouri State.
Performances were scheduled at staggered times to accommodate guests’ schedules. The great variety of performances lit up the celebration. First, a trio from Peru (piano), India (vocals), and China (violin) performed the song “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley. Later, groups from China, India, Japan, and South Korea performed various songs and dance performances.
International Edxchange
This new, student-led event provided the opportunity for students to learn more about the educational experiences and norms that make each person’s journey to Missouri State unique. The value, delivery, and accessibility of education vary around the world. The International Edxchange allowed participants to explore those differences and similarities.
Students, including a large number of Education majors and language learners, staff, and faculty shared their stories and experiences over lunch. Their animated discussions emphasized the diversity and beauty of international education.
