How Can the ELI Help You?
At the English Language Institute, we offer programs that can prepare you for tests or help you with English, and that way you can become an excellent candidate to be eligible for scholarships.
SAT Preparation Workshops
If you are looking to take the SAT test and get a high score in order to apply for scholarships, this online workshop is the tool you need. During this program we will prepare you in the areas that you need to have a high score, and we will also give you a practice test, so you know what to expect in the actual test.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
The ELI also offers the EAP program that can help you improve or polish your English in all skills. This will be helpful in any test that you take or in writing an essay to apply for scholarships and programs at MSU.
You can be a full-time student by taking all classes (reading, writing, listening, speaking), or a part-time student by taking the one or two skills that you want to improve on. You can take these classes face-to-face or online.

Scholarships at Missouri State
Our international students are very important to us. That is why the International Programs office provides opportunities for international students to get scholarships and help them financially when they are planning to come and study at Missouri State University. Here is a breakdown of the scholarships we offer for undergraduate and graduate students and how to obtain them.

- For undergraduate students:
- International Excellence Scholarship
- International Leadership Scholarship
- For graduate students (master’s):
- Missouri Outreach Graduate Opportunity (MOGO) Scholarship – for graduate students (master’s)
International Excellence Scholarship
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible, an international student must:
- enter Missouri State as first-time college students.
- have an ACT composite of 24 or higher, or SAT of 1160*
- have a strong academic record in high school (secondary school)
- enroll at Missouri State as regular, degree-seeking students on the Springfield Campus within 24 months of completion of high school
*SAT score reflects the sum of the Evidenced-Based Reading/Writing and Math portions of the SAT.
Value: This scholarship has a value of $7,500, payable at $3,750 per semester during the academic year (fall and spring semesters). The scholarship is not applicable to summer enrollment. The scholarship is renewable for three years beyond the first year (four years total) and thus has a total potential value of $30,000.
Application: No application is required. Qualified students will be identified by the Office of International Services through the admission process.

International Leadership Scholarship
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible, an international student must:
- enter Missouri State as first-time college students.
- have an ACT composite of 26 or higher, or SAT of 1230*
- have a strong academic record in high school (secondary school)
- enroll at Missouri State as regular, degree-seeking students on the Springfield Campus within 24 months of completion of high school
*SAT score reflects the sum of the Evidenced-Based Reading/Writing and Math portions of the SAT.
Value: This scholarship has a value of $10,000, payable at $5,000 per semester during the academic year (fall and spring semesters). The scholarship is not applicable to summer enrollment. The scholarship is renewable for three years beyond the first year (four years total) and thus has a total potential value of $40,000.
Application: Apply for admission by March 15 for fall semester (apply by September 15 for spring semester). Eligible students will be identified by the Office of International Services based on their admission application credentials. Eligible students will be asked to submit an essay for consideration by the International Leadership Scholarship Selection Committee, which will choose the scholarship recipients.
Number of Scholarships Available: There are only 10 International Leadership Scholarships available. The earlier you apply, the more chances students have of getting it.

Missouri Outreach Graduate Opportunity (MOGO) Scholarship
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible, an international student must:
- have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25
- be a first-time, degree-seeking graduate student admitted into an eligible program
- enroll as a full-time graduate student, taking at least 9 graduate credit hours during the fall and during the spring semester or 5 graduate credit hours during the summer.
Value: The MOGO Scholarship has a value of three-fourths of the non-resident graduate student tuition for 9 credit hours (5 credits hours in the summer). The scholarship amount will be adjusted annually when the Missouri State University Board of Governors approves changes to the student fee schedule.
Application: No application is required. Once a student meets the eligibility criteria, the scholarship will automatically be offered.
