The spirit of cultural celebration came alive at the recent Tour of the Globe event, Missouri State University’s largest international festival of the year. Like every year, this year’s Tour of the Globe was open to the public, alumni, current students, faculty, future students, and staff. It was an action-packed journey with an exciting Indiana Jones theme.
The venue underwent a captivating transformation, immersing attendees in an Indiana Jones world. Maps featuring empty slots awaited stickers of gemstones, symbolizing the cultural treasures discovered by visiting every country during the event.
Attendees experienced a sensory delight, exploring a world of sights, sounds, and flavors as students from over 20 countries showcased their cultural heritage through delectable food, vibrant music, and captivating images of their homelands. Participating countries included China, Congo, Germany, Ethiopia, India, Japan, Kurdistan, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Korea, Vietnam, Yemen, Chile, Bangladesh, India, Ghana, Panama, Yemen, Malawi, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, and Tunisia.
The air was filled with the enticing aroma of global cuisines, with each country offering samples of its traditional dishes for attendees to savor. Lively musical and dance performances, featuring traditional instruments and attire from diverse regions, captivated the audience.
Creativity flourished as students from different backgrounds displayed their works of art, crafts, and games, allowing attendees to appreciate the rich tapestry of various cultures.
This year’s Tour of the Globe was an unforgettable, culturally rich event that entertained and educated attendees. From the quest for gemstones to the sensory exploration of global cuisines and the vibrant displays of cultural creativity, it was a truly immersive experience.
