Sohaib’s educational journey began in 2011 when he earned his bachelor’s degree in English Language at Baghdad University. Motivated by a scholarship program for Iraqi students, Sohaib found ELI and MSU to be the perfect fit for his academic ambitions to pursue further in English literature.
At ELI, Sohaib not only learned English language skills but also built lasting friendships with international and local students. These connections provided a support system that went beyond academics, offering opportunities for language practice, cultural exploration in Springfield, and a deeper understanding of ELI’s diverse and inclusive environment.
Sohaib attributes much of his success to the skills acquired at ELI and MSU. The English program at ELI and his master’s degree at MSU gave him good writing skills and useful editing techniques. These skills were crucial when he worked as a translator for international groups back in Iraq.
Inspired by his foundation at ELI and MSU, Sohaib decided to pursue a Ph.D. in English Literary Studies at the University of Denver. He likes the university’s English program, especially in literary studies. Now he’s in his third year.
