Experience the World in Your Own Home: Host a One-Day Cultural Exchange with Japanese Students

March 11, 2024 by Nhung Nguyen

The English Language Institute at Missouri State University will welcome 120 high school juniors and seniors from Isesaki, Japan, Springfield’s sister city, from May 25 to June 3, 2024, as part of an annual event, which was held before COVID-19. During their visit, they’ll focus on leadership development concerning seven global challenges: Population, Information, Resources, Economic Integration, Technology, Governance, and Security. As part of their experience, we offer a day with an American family near the end of their stay. This allows for individual attention, building confidence, and creating lasting memories. We rely on local families for hospitality to make this possible. Host families can plan various activities such as preparing lunch together, swimming, visiting the zoo, playing with pets, board games, cookouts, or attending church. It’s an opportunity for cultural exchange and a glimpse into American family life.

Embark on a journey of cultural discovery without ever leaving your state! Join us for the Isesaki Global Leadership Academy’s host day, where the magic of cross-cultural connection unfolds in just one remarkable day.
