Global Agriculture Initiative Continues for the 13th Year
From March 21–29, the International Leadership and Training Center (ILTC) at Missouri State University hosted a one-week agriculture-focused program as part of the Global Agriculture Initiative. Students from UniCesumar, a partner university in Brazil, participated in an immersive experience focused on hands-on agricultural learning, practical field experience, and meaningful cultural exchange.
The program was developed in collaboration with Dr. Christine E. Sudbrock from the School of Hospitality and Agricultural Leadership at Missouri State University. The program provides students with direct exposure to agricultural practices in the United States while fostering meaningful connections with local communities, university staff, and industry professionals.
Practical Agricultural Learning
Throughout the week, students explored a variety of agricultural topics, including soybean, corn, and wheat production, crop science, fertilizer management, community gardens, and agribusiness.
Participants toured facilities at Missouri State University’s Darr College of Agriculture and visited local farms across Missouri, gaining firsthand insight into daily farm operations and agricultural innovation in the United States.
One highlight of the program was a visit to Jungermann Farm. For the third consecutive year, the Jungermann family welcomed students from Brazil, sharing their farming practices and engaging in meaningful conversations that continue to make the experience memorable for all involved.

Cultural Exchange and Community Engagement
Beyond agriculture, the program emphasized cultural exchange and community engagement. Students explored local communities, experienced life in Missouri, and built lasting connections through shared experiences and conversations.
The program also created opportunities for mutual learning, allowing Missouri State staff, local farmers, and community members to gain insight into Brazilian agriculture and culture through their interactions with the students.

Looking Ahead
Programs like this reflect Missouri State University’s commitment to global engagement and experiential education by connecting students, professionals, and communities across borders. ILTC looks forward to continuing these partnerships and creating meaningful international learning experiences for future participants.
