The outside trunks providing inbound and outbound telephone service to the University are experiencing failures this morning. Some calls are getting through on the services that are functional, but many users are receiving a “fast busy” signal when attempting to call outside of the University. This indicates that no working carrier facilities are available to place the call. We have filed a priority service-failure ticket with the provider are working with them to restore full services as quickly as possible.
Update 10:40 a.m.:
All inbound and long distance services are functioning properly. Only outbound local calling is affected.
Update 11:15 a.m.:
We have circumvented the local calling issues by rerouting local calling out long distance services. These local calls remain local and without cost to our customers.
Update 2:00 p.m.:
All services have been restored by the vendor.
