LLC students get excited to participate in Missouri State’s first ever URSA experience!!
The Ursa Experience is a three-day, two-night off-campus adventure that will immerse you in life at Missouri State University. You’ll build friendships with other new students, learn about Missouri State history and traditions, explore your personal strengths, and discover ways to follow your passion and find your place on campus.
The Ursa Experience will take place August 10-12, 2015
The Ursa Experience is packed with fun interactive activities that will help you meet your fellow Bears. Each student will be assigned to a small spirit group that will be led by current Missouri State students. A sample of the Ursa Experience activities include:
- Spirit groups. Get to know your fellow Bears, create a unique spirit team chant or cheer, and engage in small group discussions with Ursa Majors (our Ursa Experience group leaders).
- Traditions 101. The Ursa Majors teach you all about Missouri State’s rich history and traditions. Trust us: You’ve never had a class like this!
- Boomerlympics. Compete against other spirit groups to win the prized Maroon Cup in an “Amazing Race”-inspired activity.
- Who Wants to Be a Million-Bear? Show off your knowledge of Missouri State trivia in a fun game show setting.
- Onward, Upward. Develop a personal action plan you can use to help you follow your passion and find your place at Missouri State.
- Public Affairs. Learn through interactive sessions why the three pillars of our public affairs mission — community engagement, cultural competence, and ethical leadership — set Missouri State apart from other universities.
- StrengthsQuest. Discover your personal strengths and explore how they will help you be successful at Missouri State and beyond.
- Campfire. Make tasty s’mores while you connect with other new students over campfire stories.
- Sports, swimming, and other fun activities. Take a dip at the retreat site’s spring-fed swimming area, play sports like basketball and volleyball, spend time with other students playing board games, and more.
