Job purpose
Marketing operations professionals at Killian Construction Co. are charged with planning, executing, monitoring, measuring, and analyzing the effectiveness of business development and marketing initiatives as they relate to the overall company’s goals. Marketing operations staff at Killian work closely with corporate executives, especially those who identify construction project opportunities in a variety of industry sectors and geographic markets. Marketing operations staff make projections about the quality of the marketing effort and construction opportunities pipeline, and identify efficiencies that will make Killian work better as a whole.
As a marketing operations intern, you will develop and produce a marketing plan for the Killian Construction Company, based in Springfield, Missouri. You will create and document scalable best practice marketing processes that ensure opportunity identification, leads generation and customer relationships management database management. You will also conduct complex data analyses that will be used to inform strategic decisions by stakeholders from across the company. You will work in our fast-paced, multi-project environment managing multiple aspects of the corporate marketing effort, including brand development; recommending, drafting and updating online content; and events coordination for Killian employees and with external organizations.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage technical aspects of key marketing systems (marketing automation, CRM), used to generate, distribute, and report on leads.
- Establish, document, maintain and train Killian employees on scalable marketing processes that ensure best practices in opportunity and lead management.
- Develop a marketing measurement strategy that contributes to the corporate balanced scorecard effort.
- Create and maintain metrics reports on marketing and contract activities, market research program effectiveness, and business impact.
- Research the industries in which Killian Construction Co. plans to pursue future business, throughout the United States, to identify the most lucrative opportunities in the most logical geographic markets.
- Analyze marketing and client pursuit data to develop insights and make recommendations on areas for optimization.
- Monitor and maintain data quality within the sectors and markets research database.
- Develop content for inclusion in the Killian website; participate in updating the webpages as needed.
- Evaluate new technologies (not merely IT) to improve and optimize marketing team performance.
- Participate in brand development, improving brand recognition, and improving internal and external brand messaging.
- Have a technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Project. Attend training through the Killian Advancement Training Sessions for other necessary software, OSHA training, and other training seminars as applicable.
- Provide monthly cost-to-complete marketing project estimates, and review marketing project statuses with management.
Qualifications
- Pursuing BA/BS or MBA, preferably emphasizing business management or business administration.
- Strong analytical skills (including mastery of Microsoft Excel) and experience with reporting and data analysis.
- Proficiency in marketing strategies via social media integrating those systems with other technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Technically capable, excellent oral and written communicator, and a desire to improve in-house business processes.
- Experience in construction, commercial real estate sales, or manufacturing a plus.
Working conditions
The Marketing Program Intern usually works in an office environment in the Springfield, MO office, and may visit local project jobsites. Some marketing project efforts may require evening and/or weekend work to meet deadlines or to participate in company events.
