Job Description: The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Customer Service Representative with a specialty as an International Shipping Expeditor. This person will take an innovative approach to supporting the MURR facility through the coordination of shipping time-sensitive products. This person should have a background in logistics and have a strong commitment to superior customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities: The International Shipping Expeditor reports directly to the Manager of Customer Service. This person will facilitate and streamline complex international shipping logistics to ensure timely delivery of MURR products and services globally. Candidates should be committed to excellence and believe in the University Mission of being a world-class research institution.
- Take a customer centered approach to resolving issues with freight in transit and regularly update clients on transportation status.
- Documenting accurately and efficiently transportation actions.
- Engaging with carriers in coordination with the MURR shipping department to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
- Proactively research and recommend improvements to the entire logistic chain including incoming and outgoing shipments of domestic and international product.
- Maintain a working knowledge of carrier schedules, sourcing, costing and reliability. Make recommendations to changes when necessary.
- Research and recommend shipping logistics for prospective customers.
- Serve as part of the customer service team.
Required Qualifications: Successful candidates will be persuasive communicators with exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must demonstrate superior customer service, collaboration, confidentiality, integrity and a commitment to inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity in their activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
- Meet the security requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, including FBI identification and a criminal history records check based on fingerprinting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in the transportation/logistics sector
- Working knowledge of regulations that impact the shipment of nuclear and FDA-regulated products
- Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020
- Certification as a Global Business Professional (NASBITE)
Compensation: $22 – $28 per hour
