For the past three semesters, Emily and Acacia have worked as Graduate Assistants in the Marketing Department, working simultaneously to fulfill the Marketing Department’s Social Media and Digital Media positions.
Emily Tanner spent her time fulfilling both as Blackboard Specialist and Social Media Coordinator position. Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Promotions in our department just a year ago and then decided to pursue her MBA. Emily’s favorite thing about studying Marketing here at Missouri State University was; “Several professors constantly pushed me to grow and learn more – Pierson, Coleman, and Grigsby, to list a few. One thing I will miss about working as a GA in the Marketing Department is the scheduling flexibility and camaraderie with fellow GAs.” Emily is very proud to have earned her Master’s degree stating, “It proves that I can accomplish anything.”
After graduation, Emily will go on to work in Kansas City at Crux – a local woman-owned advertising agency—she will be working there as an Account Coordinator.
Acacia Boerboom spent her time fulfilling the Digital Media Specialist position in our department. Acacia earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Marketing. Acacia then decided to pursue her Master of Professional Studies, a cross-disciplinary program which consists of a Master’s in Business Administration and a certificate in English. Acacia expressed that her favorite part about working in the Marketing Department was, “It gave me experience as a working professional while also allowing me to focus on my studies. I grew a lot from the experience and became more confident in communicating with my superiors and optimizing my time effectively. As a result of being a GA, I also attained two professional internships during the summertime. It is all due to the references and connections I made with the Marketing faculty and the department head, Dr. Anitsal.”
Upon graduating in December, Acacia will go on to work as an Editorial Design Intern for 417 magazine, a publisher based in Springfield, MO. In this position, Acacia will be part of Southwest Missouri’s best origin for food, entertainment, and so much more!
As we say farewell to our recent graduates, Department Head of Marketing, Dr. Anitsal says, “Congratulations to our hardworking Graduate Assistants Emily Tanner and Acacia Boerboom who are graduating this December! We appreciate all that they have done in terms of taking care of departmental Social Media and Digital Marketing tasks, and know they will soar from here on out. I wish you the very best in your careers.”
Again, we would like to congratulate Emily and Acacia! We are proud of your accomplishments, and they do not go unnoticed! You both will be missed in the Marketing Department, and we wish you the best in your future with Crux and 417 Magazine!
