Hello,
As the director of the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, in collaboration with the College of Arts and Letters at Missouri State University, we recognize that the most critical aspect of the academy is to ensure the health and safety of our students. Over the past several weeks, I have had various discussions with administrators and education officials about the precautionary measures we could take in order to continue MFAA.
Due to the global challenge of Covid-19 and in the interest of safety, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel MFAA for the summer of 2020.
We are all very disheartened by this decision, but ultimately recognize that it is in the best interest of everyone involved. You can find additional information about the academy on our website: www.missouristate.edu/mfaa
The Missouri Fine Arts Academy has a long history of promoting, developing, and providing access to arts education. We plan to continue this mission in the summer of 2021. We also recognize the level of work involved in the application process, and we would like to extend the pool of applicants for next year to include those students who applied to the 2020 academy. We aim to increase the number of individuals accepted in 2021, and we will continue to provide a life-changing experience for all students across Missouri.
We wish you, your families, and your loved ones the best of health. Thank you for sharing your talent and your continued support. MFAA will continue to change lives in the summer of 2021, and we look forward to providing you with the best residential arts experience in the state.
Thank you and stay safe,
Christopher Collins
Director of the Missouri Fine Arts Academy
