Delight in the antics of the jesters and the players, then listen for the fanfare heralding the Wassail Bowl, the Traditional Boar’s Head and the Strolling Carollers. The holiday season is upon us again, and the music department hopes you join in the celebration of the 47th Annual Elizabethan Christmas Dinners.
The dinners take place Thursday through Saturday, November 29, 30, and Dec. 1, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom. The Dinners begin with the assembly of guests in the Lobby area of Plaster Student Union starting at 6:15 p.m. with reveling and serenading to bide your time. Entrance to the Grande Dining Hall and the opening procession is at 7 p.m. sharp.
The menu for this year’s Feast features the King’s Winter Squash Soup with Crème Fraiche and Diced Red Pepper; Salad of Freshe Spinach, Red Onion, Dried Cranberries and Cranberry-Honey Vinaigrette Dressing with a Goat Cheese Wheel; The King’s Fowl Glazed with a Warm Apple/Sage Sauce; Potatoes Au Gratin; Sauteed Green Beans and a scrumptious dessert – a Cherry Trifle with Sponge Cake and Lemon Custard – all complimented by an abundance of beverages and served by courses with flair and ceremony by the Wenches and Knaves of the MSU Collegiate Singers. Entertainment for the evening features: MSU Chamber Singers serves as the Royal Court, the MSU Collegiate Singers sings and serves the meal, and The MSU Concert Chorale will again be added to the formal concert at the end of the Dinners. This fine group has been recognized nationally and internationally as one of the nation’s top college choirs.
