The winners of the music department’s concerto competition will perform April 7 in the Concerto Honors Concert, hosted by the Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra.
Winning performers
Soloists will include:
- Sam Day, performing the “Navarro II Concerto for Clarinet”
- Loriana Zavala, singing “Pace, Pace Mio Dio” from “La Forza del Destino”
- Jena Cantrell, singing “Ain’t it a Pretty Night” from “Susannah”
- Jieun Lee, performing the fiery first movement of the “Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3”
Other performances
The orchestra will perform other pieces, including:
- “Russian Easter Overture” by the expert Russian orchestrator Nicholas Rimsky-Korsakov
- “The Moldau” by Czech composer Smetana
