September marks the beginning of the concert season for the music department.
Missouri State Symphony Orchestra presents “Premiere Concert”
The opening concert of the season, “Premiere Concert,” takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. The concert features two special guests. The Trumpet Sonata, by faculty composer Dr. John Prescott, will be premiered in its complete orchestral version. Soloist for the occasion will be trumpet professor Dr. Grant Peters. The Sonata was composed and dedicated for Dr. Roger Stoner, former Head of the Music Department here at Missouri State University. Stoner plans to attend the concert. Additional selections to be performed will include a portion of Petruchka by Stravinsky and Borodin’s Symphony No. 2.
Annual “William T. White Concert” features acclaimed pianist
The music department presents the annual “William T. White Concert.” This year’s featured guest artist is pianist, Spencer Meyer.

The concert takes place Thursday, Sept. 27, 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Admission is free.
