Three Missouri State music students from the trumpet studio of Dr. Grant Peters have received noteworthy offers to graduate programs across the country.
Greg Weis
Bachelor of Music, jazz studies (’14)
Weis has been accepted into the master’s program in jazz studies at Northern Colorado University, studying under Dr. John Adler. He was awarded a teaching assistantship and a $6,500 scholarship, the highest amount UNC can offer a graduate student. Weis was also offered a $9,000 scholarship from DePaul University.
Tommy Perry
Bachelor of Music Education, (’15)
Perry has been accepted into the graduate program at Oklahoma State University, studying under Dr. Ryan Gardner. The highly competitive trumpet program often produces award-winning student soloists and trumpet ensembles. OSU students have taken top prizes at consecutive national trumpet competitions in 2014 and 2015.
Codashti McAllister
Bachelor of Music Education, (’15)
McAllister will begin a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance at the University of Arkansas in the fall, studying under Dr. Richard Rulli. She was awarded $10,000 in scholarships to perform in the University Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
