MSU entered 13 singers (and one high school student from Republic) in the Regional NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Auditions hosted at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.

Those who entered in the regional auditions had much success:

• 14 entered preliminary round
• 10 advanced to the semi-final round
• 6 advanced the to finals, 1 honorable mention

“All of our students were winners. Those who didn’t advance articulated a great deal of learning and bonding. Our faculty rocks, our students excel and MSU looks great. Mission accomplished!” Chris Thompson, coordinator of vocal studies, said.

• 1st place, Lower Division High School Division Men – Shayne Piles, Republic High School (Thompson)
• 3rd place, Freshman Men – Eric Swanson (Daehn)
• 1st place, Junior Women – Brittany Griffin (Daehn)
• Honorable Mention, Graduate Division – Martin Wilson (Thompson)
• 3rd place, Graduate Division – Jena Cantrell (Chapman)
• 2nd place, Graduate Division – Alyssa Phinney (Chapman)
• 1st place, Graduate Division – Traci Pritchard (Thompson)
