Missouri State’s award-winning troupe Opera Theatre will perform a double bill of operas this weekend at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Operas to be performed
The group will perform the short operas, “Saint Thomas the Carpenter” and “Suor Angelica” in performances on April 8 and April 10.
Saint Thomas the Carpenter
Bruce Trinkley’s opera “Saint Thomas the Carpenter” will make its stage debut at this event. The production picks up the story of Doubting Thomas at the time of his call to evangelize India.
Suor Angelica
“Suor Angelica” is a classic one-act opera by Puccini. Brianna Gilliam, an MSU graduate student, will play the title role of Sister Angelica, a Florentine noblewoman whose family has forced her to take the veil.
